At Holy Cross Mercy, our school choir is a vibrant and beloved part of our school community. Operated under the talented guidance of Mrs. Edel Cronin, Mrs. Rhonda Healy, and Ms. Olwyn Trant, our choir provides students with a wonderful opportunity to develop their musical talents, confidence, and sense of teamwork.

Our children actively participate in a variety of singing engagements throughout the year. These include school gatherings, religious celebrations such as the First Holy Communion and Confirmation ceremonies at St. Mary’s Cathedral, and special events like Carols from the Cathedral, where our choir’s joyful voices help create a festive atmosphere.

The first outing for our school choir each year is our Mercy Day Mass. A special occasion to mark the beginning of a new school year and to celebrate Mercy Day, September 24th, and carry forward the inspiring legacy of Catherine McAuley. This event marks the beginning of our choir’s busy schedule of performances, emphasising the importance of compassion and community.

In addition to these events, our choir plays a significant role in connecting with our broader community. Each year during the Christmas season, the children delight residents at Killarney Community Hospital and St. Columbanus with their lively renditions of traditional carols. These visits are a highlight for both our students and the residents, offering a heartwarming experience that the children truly cherish.

Through these performances, our choir not only nurtures musical skills but also fosters a spirit of compassion, community, and celebration. We are proud of our choir’s ongoing contribution to school life and the wider community, and we look forward to many more joyful performances in the years to come.
