Over the past three weeks, our 5th Class pupils have had the privilege of taking part in a series of inspiring printmaking workshops with local artist and designer Darragh Kinch.
Throughout the project, the children explored a range of exciting printmaking techniques, including monoprinting, lino printing and cyanotype printing. They learned how to create original designs, carve printing blocks, experiment with colour and composition, and produce their own unique prints using a variety of professional artistic processes.
The workshops provided an incredible hands-on learning experience, allowing the children to develop new artistic skills, build confidence in their creativity and gain a deeper understanding of the printmaking process. It was wonderful to see their imagination, enthusiasm and individuality shine through in every session.
Working alongside a practising artist gave the pupils a valuable insight into the creative process and encouraged them to think like artists themselves. The quality of work produced over the three weeks has been truly impressive, and the children should be very proud of their achievements.
A sincere thank you to Darragh Kinch for delivering such engaging, enjoyable and educational workshops. We would also like to thank Creative Ireland and the Kerry County Council Arts Office for supporting this wonderful initiative.
The experience has been hugely rewarding for our pupils, and the skills, knowledge and memories they have gained will stay with them for years to come. We are incredibly grateful to have been part of such a fantastic project.
